Art treasures leave UK as museums struggle to mount competitive bids


"The committee that recommends export bars on art and cultural treasures to allow money to be raised to keep things in the UK announced decidedly mixed results. With less public money available, museums and galleries struggling with budgets and fundraising were simply not able to mount viable bids for seven cultural treasures, which will all now go abroad.
