Sale of the Week: Bonhams's Inaugural Contemporary Art Auction in London

"In conjunction with the Frieze Art Fair, Bonhams will host its first contemporary art sale. And in an attempt to differentiate itself from its larger competitors, Bonhams is approaching the auction in a novel way — the newly created department will present a curated group of only 20 lots that, together, make up a coherent collection. Among the notable works being offered is Alighiero Boetti's "1984" (est. £1.2-1.8 million, or $1.9-2.9 million), a 12-panel work featuring 192 pencil drawings of magazine covers from 1984 that the artist's assistants in Rome indiscriminately plucked from newsstands each month."  [Read Full Article]
