A Slovakian Contemporary Art Museum Girds for Expansion

"Built to echo the elliptical shape of a Roman galley ship, the museum occupies a dramatic setting, surrounded by the river, near the dam at Cunovo, and the point where the borders of Slovakia, Hungary and Austria converge. The site is 20 kilometers, or about 12 miles, south of Bratislava.

This location at the heart of a reunited Europe, on the edge of the ancient Roman empire, gave the project 'that extra dimension,' said Gerard Meulensteen, the 68-year-old entrepreneur who has been the museum’s main backer.
